I have been mesmerised by colour for as long as I can remember - the sea, light, fields, trees, flowers: their myriad hues. And wax crayons and powder paints in the infants’ school classroom. Never shown one painting by any artist in the whole of my secondary education, my passionate joy in art was slow to draw flame, but it is a fire that has never been extinguished. Artists that ignite this passion include Edward Hopper, Francis Bacon, Paula Rego, Frieda Khalo and Harold Mockford, among many, many others.
